Porch Life
Spring has finally arrived, which means sitting on our front porch, glass of wine in hand, watching the birds and chatting. But alas, we discovered we had to side table to set our wine upon! The table we used last fall had been repurposed inside.

Recycle what you have
I really didn’t want to spend much money and I’m also a huge fan of making do with what you already have.
So I grabbed a plastic planter, put a couple of large rocks from the yard in the bottom to give it some weight and hold it down in the strong winds. Living in Pennsylvania, rocks are abundant in the yard! So there’s a freebie.
And here’s the secret…I then used a cheap serving tray I already had lying around. I put it in the planter to create a false bottom.
Added pebbles from the yard, seashells I already had collected, and topped it off with a glass tabletop from the basement. The false bottom meant I only used 1/4 of the pebbles that I would have otherwise.
Ta-daa! An inexpensive, unique side table. You could switch out the shells for whatever seasonal décor you like as well.
I thought I’d tell y’all about this, because I had Beau scratching his head. He kept asking where I got so many pebbles. I finally figured out that he didn’t realize it was a false bottom holding up just a small amount of pebbles.
Now you know the secret and you can create your own unique table reflecting your personal interests! What will you make?
