Finding the perfect gift for your hunter may seem difficult if you are not a hunter yourself, and so my wife asked me to give her some gift ideas for hunters. I enjoy the outdoors, the camaraderie of the guys, and the benefit of getting venison not filled with GMO. Some of these gift ideas aren’t just for the hunter. Perhaps your man loves to bird watch or just get outdoors. Several of these suggestions would work great for them as well. Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links for your convenience. I am going to list items of importance to me personally. Most of these items I would consider necessities, and some niceties.
Climbing Tree Stand
For the bow or deer hunter that wants to get back in the woods, they would need a climbing tree stand. Check to make sure it is legal where they want to hunt. Summit has been making great stands for years.
Hunter Safety System
If your significant other has a stand, a necessary item is a hunter safety system. DO NOT CLIMB A STAND WITHOUT ONE. They have really improved them in the last several years with slip-on under your hunting gear vest.
Primos Pull Up Rope
A Pull- up rope can be used for both gun or bow.
Hunter Safety System Talon Hook
Believe me, these come in handy to hang your gear from and or your bow.
You get what you pay for in binoculars. If you buy a cheap pair, then they will fog up and they won’t be used. Try to get one that is fog/water proof. However, they do need to be compact. The hunter is carrying a lot of gear and giant binoculars don’t carry well. So go for a good compact pair. All hunters LOVE good binoculars.
Walking in the woods without a good flashlight is dangerous. In fact, I suggest at least 2 flashlights in case one dies. I honestly carry 3, with one being one I put on my hat. (I never liked the kind that is built into the hat.) At least 300 lumens or better.
Yes, even in today’s age of electronics, I still carry a compass. Be prepared.
A Good Knife
Your choice of which, but again nothing cheap. At the same time, you don’t have to break the bank to get quality.
A Knife Sharpening Kit
Folding Hand Saw
The Kershaw task master is a good choice
SCENT AWAY Travel Bag
This is for the serious and want to be serious bow hunter. I put some of the earth scents in the bag with my clothes.
Unless the hunter is hunting game management land, almost everyone would like several. (Hint wife hint –let’s see if she really reads my stuff.)
A Good Gun Cleaning Kit
And a few stocking stuffers
I needed one of these numerous times. I did make one myself. But this MULTUS is cool and it is a great gift .
Thermocell Mosquito System. I highly suggest this! You may decide on another brand but I can verify this brand works and they have new inserts that don’t have an insect repellent odor. I absolutely guarantee your hunter/fisherman/outdoor people will thank you. They work with in minutes. Thermocell also makes a tree hanger . Again works great
Lightweight Poncho. One that can fit in a waist pack/back pack. Which is the next item I like to use a waist pack if I am going to climb. Because chances are I have a climbing tree stand on my back and a gun or bow on my arm. Kinda need my other arm free.
Deer Rattler. Really a nicety to most hunters. Just make sure they are compact and can fit in a pouch.
Cover Scents. I like FRESH EARTH wafers but that is just me.
A Cell Phone Battery Charger. Hours on the stand or walking will take its toll on our cell. Because most of us text each other and do other things (games, surf.)
Ratchet Straps. No one can ever have enough.
Scent Removing Toiletries. Dead Down Wind makes a plethora of scent removing soaps, shampoos, and etc.
Most of the above items are things the hunter will be carrying into the field, not including clothes.
So you can see the need to be fairly light-weight. You don’t have to have all these items, but it will make the time more enjoyable.
So there you have it. A variety of excellent choices that any hunter/outdoorsman would absolutely love in a wide range of prices. You’ll be sure to find just the right gift for your hunter!
